Koskii: History & Evolution

Koskii’s history and journey lie in the family textile business history that Umar Akhtar’s family had been in. It all started in the year 1914, when the great-grandfather of Umar Akhtar Abdul Rahman Badsha was a trader. He used to sell textiles to the people by going door to door.
Later, he opened a store named Badsha Stores in Madikeri (Coorg) in 1914, where he would see handcrafted cotton and silk fabrics. Soon, the shop started getting popular due to its authentic handcrafted fabrics. The small textile business, over the years, was joined by the relatives and everyone in the family, who have been a part of this amazing legacy. This business created a name for itself in the textile industry for its commitment, dedication, and eye for unique style.
Umar Akhtar, after his studies, thought of starting a new fashion brand and launched Mina Bazaar, which he later renamed as Koskii. Mina Bazaar was started in 2009, where Umar was also managing his corporate work. The company was handled by Haroon Rashid. In 2011, another store was opened on Kamaraj Road. Subsequently, there were many stores that were opened in different parts of the country. In 2016, Umar quit his full-time job and committed to the business with responsibility and dedication.
